5 Reasons Why People Love Bali

Who doesn’t know Bali? As one of the most popular tourist destinations, Bali attracts more than 16 million foreign tourists per year (as of 2019). It is also ranked first in the top 50 bucket list destinations in the world by the website Big 7 Travel. As a result, there are tens of millions of photos published on Instagram with the hashtag #bali. Even if you have never been to Bali, you must have known someone who has been there.

The most important question is, why do people love Bali so much? Yes, it’s a beautiful tropical island, but there are thousands of islands like Bali around the world. Are you curious to know the answer? Because we know why.

Five reasons why Bali is the top travel destination in the world

1. Stunning natural beauty

From the famous Tegallalang rice terrace to the grandiose Mount Agung; you name it, Bali has it. The island is not lacking picturesque beaches or dazzling waterfalls. You will never run out of options. Whether you’re an adventurer, a hobbyist, or simply just looking for a perfect background to take your profile picture, Bali will never cease to amaze you with its captivating landscape.

2. Elaborate and sacred culture

Bali is an island where the majority of its population is Hindu. As did the ancestors before them, the Balinese people keep the centuries-old tradition alive in everything they do. They start the day with a ritual to give offerings to gods so the good force will protect and bless their life. One of their most important rituals is Nyepi, to celebrate the Hindu New Year on the Balinese Saka calendar. Unlike any other festive new year’s celebration, they observe Nyepi by dedicating a whole day to be silent—no lights, electricity, work, or traveling. They pray, fast, and meditate at home to contemplate and connect with God. These types of rituals are what made Bali special.

3. Artsy ambience

Art is in the Balinese blood. They are painters and sculptors, dancers and musicians. They weave elegant-looking baskets and paint colorful textiles. Their arts are everywhere; at homes, temples, markets, pretty much every corner of the island. It is truly a feast for the eyes.

4. Warm and friendly people.

Bali has opened their island to tourists and foreigners since the early 1900s. Since then, the Balinese people have shared their homeland with strangers, and they have done it with an amiable demeanor. You will find that most people are friendly and welcoming, and they smile a lot.

5. There is everything for everyone.

Whether you’re into luxury resorts, boutique hotels, or budget hostels; Bali has everything you need. They cater to any budget with abundant choices. You can splurge or save, it’s really up to you!
